Wheel Weights Empty
PostSubject: Wheel Weights   Wheel Weights EmptyMon Nov 02, 2009 9:05 pm

To finish off those final few PI points, we often select a light weight wheel to find us sitting at the very end of the PI range for a specific car class. Tonight, I plan on sitting down and arranging the wheels by weight given that there have been so many changes and additions to the wheels available in FM3. I'll be selecting a stock Toyota Celica '03 as the test mule, and will post the rims in order of weight savings (or weight gain). I will also post PI changes to provide some additional insite to help with wheel choice.

UPDATE TONIGHT: ALL RIMS ARE UP (rims in blue are not paint-able) (rims in red will have the wheel face painted, but not the chrome lip)

Wheel Weights Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wheel Weights   Wheel Weights EmptyTue Nov 03, 2009 7:57 pm

I appreciate this good sirchickenheart and the only thing I would add is that I've noticed depending on the car selected, the weights of the wheels can change. I would therefore assume the PI would be different in those instances as well. Again, thanks for the work! Very Happy

I hope this just gives you a ranking of wheels so if you need to get 1 PI, can you go with a -38 wheel, or can you squeek out a -39 wheel.

I used it tonight on a mini cooper build, and even though the weights and PI are different, the sequence of the wheels remains the same and gives you an idea of what wheels are in your PI range.

all wheels are up now....just polishing up presentation. Wheels are alphabetical within their respective weight savings groups.

I find it interesting how many weights fall into the -2 PI group, and that there is actually a transition between -2 and -3 PI within wheels that have the same weight savings....the 22nd pound savings group.

Ive added some additional information to each rim.

Those that appear in blue are not paint-able.

Those in red will be two-tone, with centers being painted, and the lip remaining chrome. (To get this special effect to work, you must first buy a rim which can be painted. Purchase that wheel and then go to paint shop to paint a color. Then go back to purchase and install the two-tone capable wheel.
